Collaborative Initiatives

As a community organizing entity, ELACC understands the importance of forming and mobilizing collaborative partnerships with like-minded organizations to better achieve shared social and economic outcomes. Below is a description of the major community-based partnership alliances ELACC participates in:

  • Through the work of Los Angeles Works for Better Health, ELACC collaborates with Alameda Corridor Jobs Coalition, Chinatown Service Center, Community Coalition, and SCOPE to promote and implement employment training and workforce development programs.
  • ELACC works with the Boyle Heights Learning Collaborative(BHLC), a community-based school reform effort that focuses on improving the quality of public education, engaging parents in the educational process, and strengthening the connections between community-based organizations and the schools.
  • ELACC spearheads the Comunidades Unidas de Boyle Heights(CUBH), a coalition of local organizations including ELACC, Homeboy Industries, InnerCity Struggle and Union de Vecinosto represent the needs of working families, youth, and tenants in the redevelopment of Boyle Heights.
  • ELACC is a member of the Countering Gentrification Working Group .Other members include SCANPH, Collective Space, Innercity Law Center and Little Tokyo Service Center.
  • Communities for Education Equity(CEE)Communities for Education Equity is a citywide alliance formed in 2004 by approximately 20 education stakeholder groups from around the Los Angeles region.The main focus of this collaborative is to move the A-G Curriculum initiative through LAUSD bureaucracy to ensure it is adopted and implemented effectively.On June 14th, 2005, the LAUSD School Board voted to change existing policy and adopt this critical curriculum district-wide.Since that time, CEE has focused on monitoring and impacting the implementation plan to ensure it is practical and expedient.
  • Los Angeles Works For Better Health (LAWBH)

    Los Angeles Works for Better Health is a collaborative of five non-profits, each working with socially and economically disenfranchised populations from diverse communities from around the Los Angeles region.LAWBH is an alliance of low-income communities that partner with employers to connect local residents with quality jobs to build healthy communities.
