A native of Guadalajara, Mexico, Elba Schildcrout joined ELACC as a housing counselor in 2010 bringing with her over three years of housing and financial counseling experience. In 2012 she became a senior housing counselor, overseeing the foreclosure prevention program and working day in and day out with families facing the foreclosure crisis. She also provides first-time homebuyer and financial literacy education, and free tax preparation through IRS’ VITA program. Prior to joining ELACC, Elba worked as a financial counselor for the non-profit Surepath Financial Solutions, where she assisted people going through financial distress such as insolvency, foreclosure, and credit issues. She has an Associate’s of Arts degree in both English and philosophy from Moorpark Community College.
