Financial Literacy Workshops and Counseling

Financial literacy workshops are offered to educate individuals possessing limited knowledge of and experience with the mainstream financial tools and resources that promote economic prosperity. The curriculum is based on a combination of existing curricula. A vast array of workshops is offered throughout the year to address the most pressing financial needs of the community.

Classes that are offered consist of:

  • Introduction to banking products and services
  • Benefits of a checking account
  • Borrowing basics: Introduction to credit
  • Budgeting: How to Keep Track Of Your Money
  • Credit issues and solutions
  • Establishing a savings plan
  • Understanding consumer installment loans
  • Using Credit Cards Wisely
  • Your Rights As A Consumer

Workshops are provided in-house and at the sites of our community partners. In addition, workshops are offered in local schools, community centers, churches, and other non-profits.

Foreclosure Prevention Program

ELACCs Foreclosure Prevention program is designed to assist distressed homeowners to prevent foreclosure with early intervention education and counseling as well as to assist those that are already in the process of losing their home. We provide education and counseling which includes loss mitigation between the homeowner and the servicor. Below are the components of ELACCs program.

Program Components:
1. Advice and Counseling/Training
      One-On-One crisis financial counseling
      One-On-One ongoing financial counseling

2. Negotiation and Advocacy
      Loss Mitigation counseling and negotiation
      Assistance with other housing alternatives

3. Prevention/Early Intervention
      Predatory Lending counseling
      Financial Management seminars
      Loan education
