José came on board at ELACC in 2012 as a Community Organizer to lead the completion of the Plan del Pueblo para Boyle Heights (The People’s Plan for Boyle Heights) and continue the efforts against the Wyvernwood Gardens Redevelopment Project alongside the property’s tenants José currently serves as the Tenant Services Manager, overseeing the programs, services, and support being provided to tenants living with ELACC’s affordable housing projects in Boyle Heights, El Sereno, and Unincorporated East Los Angeles. José is an immigrant from Hidalgo, Mexico and was raised in Boyle Heights, his current home community. He graduated from Roosevelt High School before completing a dual B.A in Chicana & Chicano Studies and Political Science at UCLA and a two year program with Public Allies.
