ELACC is part of the Renter’s Rights Movement in LA and we are advocating for policy to protect and expand rent control. Please join us this Wednesday, April 25 to ask City Council’s Housing Committee to support the Repeal of Costa-Hawkins at the state level.
What is Costa-Hawkins?
The Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act (AB 1164; codified in California Civil Code Sections 1954.50) places significant limits on the ability of cities in California to implement rent control.
What does this mean for renters in LA?
What ELACC is doing?
Repealing Costa-Hawkins gives us the opportunity to create new rent control regulations in LA, further protecting thousands of families from displacement.
Over 500,000 signatures have been collected to add the repeal of Costa-Hawkins in the California ballot in November, we want the city of LA to support the repeal of Costa-Hawkins and help sustain our communities.
What YOU can do?
Show up and support on Wednesday, April 25, from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, share your story of being a renter in the city of LA and join the movement. Follow #RentersDayLA and updates on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
